Liberty India to double output thanks to Sacmi

The goal: to strengthen international market presence

Indian group Liberty has announced it will be doubling output capacity. Thanks to new Sacmi-supplied machines, the plant at Neemrama – in the province of Rajasthan – will reach, by 2009, an annual production capacity of 600,000 pieces.

Although a relatively recent addition to the ceramic sanitaryware production scenario, the Group is displaying remarkable dynamism on international markets and has established production and sales partnerships that span from Europe to South Africa and South America.

Liberty has set its sights on the top end of the market, which is currently expanding in India at the rate of 20-25% a year. This latest investment, which aims to enhance broad penetration on world markets, was recently accompanied by an expansion of the Group’s corporate structure following the acquisition of a 16% share in Bennet, Coleman & Co Ltd, the owners, among other things, of the “Times of India”.

“The right partnership at the right moment”, stated Liberty’s Managing Director, Adarsh Gupta. “Being India’s largest media group”, pointed out Gupta, “they will be a secure asset when it comes to experimenting new marketing channels”. The ambition is to become, by 2010, thanks to a strengthened corporate structure and Sacmi-supplied machines and know-how, the most important Indian producer of ceramic sanitaryware.
