New Espresso Rooftile lines at the Kashi Shirkouh Yazd co.

Outstanding output flexibility ensures success of Sacmi-supplied plant

In the city of Yazd, in central Iran, on a high plain some 1800 m above sea level, Sacmi has successfully supplied a new production plant for the production of 20 million/year of standard interlocking glazed roof tiles measuring 440 x 270 mm and weighing 3.2 kg and their relevant trim pieces.

The plant is characterised by single-stage dry grinding and three separate production lines, each featuring a mixer/wetter, an extrusion unit, a forming press operating in tandem with a multi-channel roller dryer, a glazing line and a single-channel roller kiln, in which roof tiles are fired without any refractory support.

Each production line is currently dedicated to a specific product type: Marsigliese roof tile, Portuguese roof tile and Dutch roof tile, although each line can be used to produce any of the three types.

The Marsigliese roof tile line has come into production first and has reached in short time a production of 22.600 pieces/day, featuring a rapid 97-minute firing cycle. Immediately afterwards also the other two lines for the production of  Portuguese and Dutch roof tile have been started up to a total daily production of 67.800 roof tiles, reaching an annual production of about 23.700.000 roof tiles, well in excess of the contract-required output level.

Flat tile glazing techniques allow the tiles to be glazed extremely easily, allowing both plain colour and more mellow, variable-shading effects to be achieved so as to meet the needs of an ever-changing market.

So, where extreme quantitative and qualitative flexibility by tile type is needed, Espresso Rooftile technology has once again proved itself to be a secure winner.
