Two years of far-reaching reorganisation against an ever-changing global backdrop. But also two years of innovation on the part of technology producers and providers, who have had the courage to invest in cutting-edge technology and solutions to boost both product quality and production process efficiency. Among them, of course, Sacmi, which will be bringing together major industry players for the 9th Conference on technological trends in the sanitaryware industry.
“Efficiency and flexibility in a globalised market: not just a challenge, but also an opportunity”: this, then, is the title for the 1-day workshop to be held at Sacmi Imola this coming Monday 24th September. As is the tradition, the morning will be dedicated to guided tours of the Sacmi plant to meet the R&D staff of the Whiteware Division and get an exclusive preview of new solutions soon to be presented at various events such as the next Tecnargilla: high pressure casting technology remains one of the key focuses of attention in this regard, with particular emphasis, this year, on the production of “one-piece” sanitaryware items plus other new Sacmi-developed product pre-drying solutions.
In the afternoon talks will be give by key players of the global ceramic industry, with Andy Skillen, managing editor of the prestigious Asian Ceramics magazine, moderating. He’ll immediately be handing over to his colleague Alex Murphy, Research Manager of the Asian Ceramic Review. The focus of Murphy’s talk will be “Two long years? Changes in the global sanitaryware market”. Afterwards, senior ceramic expert Alessandro Tomi will be closely examining some of the best practices in terms of ceramic sanitaryware manufacturing technology. Following that, Atalay M. Gümrah, vice-president of the Eczacibaşi Group’s Turkey-based Whiteware Division, will illustrate design and production strategies aimed at saving water.
Sam Leese, Technical Manager of the British firm Sibelco Europe, will be giving a high-level introduction to energy saving and environmental sustainability (two topics of ever–greater importance to technology producers and providers) titled “A sustainable approach to body formulation”. Closing the proceedings will be Yvonne Orgill, President of the international sanitaryware producers association: she’ll be illustrating the main challenges faced by today’s sanitaryware market - a sector in which producers and suppliers alike have a long history of transforming challenges into opportunities.
