New tunnel kiln for RAK Ceramics

As part of its plans to increase production in its core business lines, the UAE-based Group RAK Ceramics has gone for the quality and low consumption guaranteed by Sacmi kilns

Close collaboration between the Sacmi Group and RAK Ceramics - one of the world’s largest ceramics manufacturers which produces 5 million pieces a year in its sanitaryware business alone – continues investment in its core business technology. Given its plans to boost output capacity even further, the company has now installed a new Sacmi-supplied tunnel kiln designed to handle up to 2,320 pieces in 24 hours, equal to almost 35 tons of finished product a day.

Thanks to the innovative characteristics of the kiln, equipped with latest-generation burners and designed to optimise heat flows inside the firing chamber, this investment will allow RAK to boost energy efficiency considerably. Because of these specifications the kiln ensures optimal firing and glazing quality; this is also due to the high number of burners and advanced control systems that ensure progressive, uniform, flexible heating in all kiln sections.

This new kiln joins a Sacmi-supplied robotised glazing station (just recently installed and equipped with cutting-edge glaze delivery control systems and assisted by anthropomorphous robots) with a daily output capacity of around 800 pieces per day. This latest investment decision once again underlines RAK Ceramics’ focus on product and production process quality and highlights its continued faith in Sacmi technological solutions.
