North Africa, Sacmi at Carthage 2016 new prospects for the heavy clay industry

The goal: to reboot the internal Tunisian market, with an eye to the potential for export to nearby North and Central African nations

With some 40,000 visitors expected, Carthage 2016 – the construction technology and materials fair to be held in Tunis from 18 to 22 May 2016 – remains a strategic appointment in what is one of North Africa’s most modern, dynamic economies. Hence the decision by Sacmi Heavy Clay – which has a strong foothold in the area and a list of new job orders acquired from strategic players there – to take part in the fair with its own stand. Here, the Group’s technical personnel will be on hand to show existing and potential customers the very latest firing, drying and product handling technology for briqueteries.

With no less than 5 complete plants recently purchased in the Maghreb and now being assembled – a welcome boost to the Group’s already strong position in the area - Sacmi heads to Tunis with the added dynamism of new synergies with Cosmec. The latter specialises in automated brick/heavy clay handling solutions. Acquired barely two years ago, Cosmec already has a structured portfolio of customers throughout the area. The Tunisian market is constantly evolving and is increasingly attentive to product quality, making it of keen interest to Sacmi due to growing interest in newer, complex products such as structural-thermal blocks (bolstering a market demand that was, for years, almost entirely focused on lightweight B8/ B12, Hourdis, platrierre bricks etc.)

For high-end products like these manufacturers need the best technology on the market, with all the assurances of quality, productivity and reliability that only a firm like Sacmi Heavy Clay can provide. In addition to technological excellence, the Sacmi Group also offers customers the added value of a structured, far-reaching presence in the area, not only as regards sales but also technical support and after-sales assistance services. The result: a complete, all-round response to an increasingly demanding clientele who use both traditional automation and the latest robot solutions.
