Nuova Fima ‘EkoLine’ wins widespread market acclaim

Over 70 EkoWrapp, and EkoSort and new EkoRoll sorting line packaging solutions installed.

Designed – and continuously upgraded – to respond to changing market demand, the new “Eko-Line” by Nuova Fima offers a perfect response to all end-of-line requirements thanks to a flexibility and performance found nowhere else on the market. The figures speak for themselves: no less than 73 solutions installed, that is, 37 EkoWrapp and 26 EkoRoll packaging machines – which can reduce cardboard consumption by up to 65% while boosting output rates – and 10 of the new EkoSort sorting lines. The EkoSort, in fact, stands out on account of a simplified sorting system that can be set up directly via the software and used whatever the packaging size or thickness, thus minimising the time needed for size changeovers.

“A huge success”, explained Giuseppe Miselli, engineer and sales manager for Italy, “that stems from the revolutionary technical characteristics that have been quick to earn the trust of the major players - mostly Italian - in the industry”. Over 90% of the sold solutions have, in fact, gone to Italian factories or overseas production facilities owned by Italian companies. “What’s proved to be a real winner”, continues Miselli, “is the combined use of the three EkoWrapp, EkoRoll and EkoSort solutions when it comes to managing the most commonly packaged sizes, from 15x90 to 75x150 or from 20x120 to 90x180, basically covering the entire range of market demand”.

Excellent 100% protection of the product perimeter, minimisation of gluing points, reduced waste and lower disposal costs are just some of the advantages that have made these machines so popular with Italian ceramic manufacturers who, thanks to these solutions, have achieved savings of over 50% on cardboard and 30% on glue – and that’s without taking the general increase in efficiency and flexibility into account.

With its cardboard rolls, pre-coloured blanks and high-efficiency tile sorting and clearing systems, the innovative “EkoLine” by Nuova Fima “has also proved to be successful from a labour standpoint”, concludes Giuseppe Miselli, “thanks to the crucial improvements in process efficiency seen in the 30 companies of the ceramic district that have made a far-sighted investment in these Sacmi solutions”.
