October 31, 2003 “Continua”, Sacmi’s innovative technology presented in Sassuolo

The mayors of Sassuolo and Fiorano and the president of Assopiastrelle, Sergio Sassi attended the inauguration of the new tile production system.

A system suitable of “immediate cross cutting” of unfired porcelanized stoneware slabs produced with a double loading system before the second press-cycle begins and dress it to customize ceramic products obtained from a single slab. This is the innovative process Sacmi has developed and incorporates in “Continua”, the revolutionary technology for the production of ceramic tiles. “Continua”, whose features were kept top secret, was presented at a world preview on Monday, October 27, in the Palazzo Ducale in Sassuolo. The mayor of Sassuolo Laura Tosi, the mayor of Fiorano Egidio Pagani, the president of Assopiastrelle, Sergio Sassi, and a large group of businessmen in the ceramic industry attended the convention. “Continua – stated Sacmi’s General Manager Eugenio Emiliani – was developed from a project that has already been tested by the Impronta-Italgraniti group and provides remarkable advantages in stoneware slab production with a double loading system.” This technology was then described by Giuseppe Miselli, Sacmi’s sales area manager for the Sassuolo district. Mr. Miselli said that “Continua overcomes the limits of press feeding and can be connected to other already operating technological systems developed by Sacmi, such as Mondrian and Twinpress.” Sacmi presented also the following innovative technologies for the production of porcelanized stoneware tiles : Mondrian (for cutting any size tiles), Monolithos (filler box for mass powder loading to the press which assures homogeneous decorations on tiles), Twin Press (for obtaining special decorations on tiles, with a double-pressing system). In particular, “Twin Press” has obtained excellent results in the ceramic factories where is currently operating, both in Italy and around the world”. Along with the presentation of “Continua”, the municipality representatives, gave an update on the work-in-progress regarding restoration of Palazzo Ducale’s Secret Garden. Sacmi Imola contributed to its renovation.
