Pegasus - Ceramic Industries Group- South Africa

Successful start-up of new single-fire floor tile plant

Working in close collaboration with Sacmi, the Ceramic Industries Group continues to put its expansion policies into practice. At the end of April 2003, in fact, the Group successfully started up its latest plant, the “Pegasus” factory, which, with an output of 24,000 m2/day, has significantly reinforced Ceramic Industries’ already-strong position in South Africa. Sacmi has supplied all the key machines. For grinding and spray drying there is a MTC088 mill (featuring 100% sintered alumina grinding media) and an ATM110 spray drier. The firing department has two FMS2850 kilns, which, at over 140 metres long, are, perhaps, the biggest kilns ever supplied. The plant also features the innovative, wide-clearance PH3020 presses and multi-level ECP307 driers.
