Expansion of the sanitaryware plant

Plans to expand output capacity and increase the level of production cycle automation at the RAK Ceramics (Arab Emirates) plant are now nearing completion. The second half of 2003 will see the following machines come on line: - a new high pressure WC casting unit, the AVE 040. - 2 high pressure casting benches for washbasins and pedestals. - a SSK 440/170-9 shuttle kiln for firing and re-firing (total effective volume 88.65 m³) The first half of 2003 saw the installation of a SSK440/170-9 kiln and two high pressure washbasin casting benches, yielding excellent results in terms of both productivity and quality. Consequently, in light of RAK’s resulting market success, the expansion project continues - and is expected to continue over the coming years, in close collaboration, of course, with SACMI Whiteware. Thanks to this successful partnership, RAK is now pushing ahead with the start-up of a new sanitaryware production plant in Bangladesh, which is expected to begin production (200,000 pcs/year) in October 2003. The plant has been fully constructed with SACMI machines and employs the same technological solutions that were installed with such success in the Arab Emirates plant.
