Rak to get a turnkey tableware plant

Sacmi supplies cutting-edge machines and technology. High-quality output for the hotel market

On 28th January 2006 His Highness Sheik Saoud Bin Saqr Al Kasimi, Crown Prince of the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, inaugurated the all-new plant designed by the Sacmi Group for Rak, the ceramic giant of the United Arab Emirates.
The guests of honour at the ceremony were Paul Bocuse, universally acknowledged to be the father of “Nouvelle Cuisine”, and French designer Alain Vavro.
This first stage of the plant will produce some 15 million pieces a year.
The tableware - top-of-the-range vitreous aluminous articles - is intended for the luxury hotel market. The plant has been supplied “turnkey” (i.e. ready-to-start) so as to meet the needs of the customer in full. The very latest technology has been employed throughout the production process, from isostatic pressing for flat articles to pressure casting for trays, from numerically-controlled roller shaping to patented plunge painters, from the latest series of foot sanders to comprehensive rapid firing (biscuit, paint, decoration).
