Robots boost refractory industry competitiveness

Sacmi to illustrate advantages of automation at the international Moscow conference.

“Refractory technology and production plants. New types of refractory in the metallurgic industry”: this, then, is the title of the international refractory industry conference being held in Moscow from 13th to 14th February 2007. Market analysis, raw materials, equipment, production technology, applications and services will all be discussed together with major industry players and experts. Of course, no such conference would be complete without the participation of Sacmi: representing us in Moscow will be Andrea Grandi and Matteo Federici, Special Pressings Area Manager and Business Unit Manager respectively.

Scheduled to start at 11 a.m. at Moscow’s ‘Wasaw’ Hotel on the second day of the conference, Mr. Grandi’s talk will provide an in-depth, thought-provoking look at increases in production plant efficiency.

During his talk Mr. Grandi will be highlighting the clear-cut benefits – for both workers and businesses – offered by industrial robots. Thanks to robots, in fact, workers are spared the hardest, most repetitive and dangerous tasks while the company enjoys the advantage of being able to employ personnel in more skilled activities. Further robot-generated payback, explains the Sacmi report, includes improved process performance and productivity control, with evident advantages in terms of both finished product quality and labour costs.

The talk will also explain how the refractory market can efficiently interface with the steady evolution of robotics. Participants at the Moscow conference will also gain an insight into Sacmi’s extensive experience, starting with the six-axis robots that make ideal palletizing units. The talk will also aim to show how the flexibility and ergonomics of these machines can be enhanced even further: to this end Andrea Grandi will be illustrating the Group’s research and investment into new, user-friendly industrial robot control interfaces.
