S.I.D.C. (Saudi Industrial Development Company) is the Saudi Group to which the Yanbu ceramic plant, founded in 1997, belongs: the plant has a yearly output of 800,000 sanitaryware articles and 120,000 acrylic bathtubs, marketed under the Casavia brand.
S.I.D.C. recently started up a new ceramic disc manufacturing department; these discs are embedded in asphalt for use as road markers, especially in Persian Gulf nations.
The employed production technology is that of high pressure casting (up to 40 bar) developed by Sama Maschinenbau, a German company belonging to the Sacmi Group that designs and builds complete plants for the tableware and technical ceramic industries.
The machine that recently went into production is a dual-head PCM200 N/D, on which 16 moulds, each with four cavities, are installed: output is in the order of 5500 discs a day (10 cm diameter size).
The flexibility of the machine also allows it to manufacture bathroom accessories.
S.I.D.C is quoted on the Tadawul stock exchange of Riyadh and its companies do business in the Middle East and North Africa in a broad range of sectors: from construction materials and household accessories such as matrasses to large-scale civil projects, from petrochemicals to steel, from logistics to food production.
