SIDEPACK: guaranteed savings

A packaging system that reduces the required amount of cardboard

Given the growing demand for eco-compatible technologies, the Sacmi Forni Automation Division has designed a tile packaging system that drastically reduces packaging material requirements, ensuring significant economic and environmental benefits for producers and users alike.
This new system was presented at the Tecnargilla 2008 fair in Rimini under the name Sidepack.

The basic operating principle of this new packaging system involves the application of cardboard sheets on just two sides of the tile pack.

The cardboard panels are held in place, together with the tile stack, by two straps; on the building site these straps can also be used as carry handles. This cardboard application method can be used with traditional or large tiles; no particular size changeover modifications are required, thus providing the advantages of simplicity and reliability.

Direct comparisons between Sidepack and traditional packaging have revealed, in the case of medium and large-size tiles, exceptional cardboard savings and, consequently, significant cost reductions. Compared to tray-type packing systems, Sidepack provides savings in the order of 60% with medium sizes and up to 75% with large slabs.
Compared to traditional wrap closures the economic advantages are smaller but still considerable: with 30 x 30 cm tiles Sidepack still reduces packaging costs by 37%.
