The AVB is the latest high pressure casting unit to be presented by Sacmi. In addition to providing all the flexibility, economy and productivity of a machine for mould batteries it can also make articles requiring 4-part moulds.
The structure and process fluid control circuits are, in fact, the same as those on the ALS, designed for the casting of washbasins, sinks, pedestals, squat toilets, tanks and lids. From this machine the AVB retains all the advantages of modularity and production versatility.
Depending on the length of the selected casting bench, it is possible to install from 6 to 10 moulds, giving a maximum daily output of 300-500 pieces per day. Independent slip feed, compressed air, vacuum and water allow the simultaneous execution of differentiated casting cycles, thus allowing different articles to be produced on the same machine.
Mould clamping, carried out by a hydraulic cylinder (operated by a pneumatic-hydraulic control unit for the lateral elements and by pneumatic bearings for the base and lid), has been designed to produce an isostatic reaction to slip pressure, exerting as little strain on the moulds as possible and so lengthening their working life. In designing the mould containment frames great care was taken to ensure simple assembly and easy access to adjustment mechanisms to minimize machine downtimes during mould changeovers. De-moulding can be made automatic by installing a robot; alternatively it can be manual, servo-assisted by a zero-weight manipulator.
The machine can also be equipped with several optional automatic devices that allow special on-piece tasks to be carried out. All machine functions are managed by a PLC, which, in addition to the casting cycle, also controls all additional casting cell devices. The AVB is the perfect solution for the production of open-rim WC bowls and, with just a few modifications, can also be used for other product types, integrating, if necessary, out-of-machine gluing stages into the system.
