Sacmi Sanitaryware: the automation that makes the difference

Reducing line inefficiency with advanced mould changeover systems and minimising manual labour requirements by fully automating product handling, even with large, heavy counter basins. These, then, are just a few of the advantages offered by Sacmi’s AVI and ADM sanitaryware pressure casting solutions, the focus of a recent major investment by GSI (Gruppo Sanitari Italia).

Already a long-standing Sacmi partner (a new high-performance static drier was recently supplied), GSI has now purchased two new automatic high pressure casting cells for the manufacture of WCs, washbasins and counter basins; these join the 5 AVM and the one ADS unit for the production of WCs and shower trays and the Riedhammer kiln, which features Reko technology (again, this was not a first order, similar ones were completed in 2015).

What characterises the first solution - a casting cell with the new AVI module for the production of WCs - is rapid mould replacement technology: this is nothing less than a revolution in the world of ceramic sanitaryware as it cuts changeover times by up to 95% compared to alternative solutions. Moreover, totally automated mould changeovers (which eliminate tasks of little added value and make the most of workers’ skills) are combined with excellent flexibility as the solution is compatible with the existing moulds already built for traditional cells.

Automation is also the key feature of the second supplied solution, an ADM cell for the manufacture of large, heavy washbasins and counter basins; these are de-moulded, handled and loaded directly onto the drying car without any need for manual tasks in either the production or handling processes. Both cells have been supplied with a FPV pre-drier which allows just de-moulded products to mature and harden in a controlled environment before they’re loaded onto the dryer cars.
