Sacmi dryers: quality and low consumption

Sacmi dryers: quality and low consumption

GSI (Gruppo Sanitari Italia) has renewed its trust in Sacmi to complete a major investment aimed at strengthening and expanding its leadership in the ceramic sanitaryware industry. This latest order was for a static dryer, to be installed together with the pressure casting machine for the manufacture of medium-large fine fire clay shower trays.
Characterised by high productivity and output quality, the dryer has a production capacity of 760 pieces a day spread over two 11-hour cycles. Thanks to the special machine configuration, drying process homogeneity is outstanding. Indeed, detected residual humidity is (on the basis of tests run on products) always less than 0.7% in every sample and there is no noticeable variation between different areas of the same piece.

Maximum output flexibility (dried product size varies from a minimum of 80x80 cm to a maximum of 100x140 cm, the average weight of the demoulded articles loaded in the dryer is 44 kg) has been combined with design specifications aimed at optimising drying process energy consumption. The result: great energy performance over the entire product drying cycle.

With this investment decision, then, Gruppo Sanitari Italia has again demonstrated its attentiveness to both product quality and emissions/consumption reduction. Back in 2015, in fact, the company – based in Gallese (Viterbo) – selected the very best Sacmi-Riedhammer technology to renew its kilns, cutting-edge machines that – compared to the traditional tunnel kilns used to fire ceramic sanitaryware – cut consumption to just 1200 kcal per kg of fired product, thus saving over 13,620 tons of CO2 emissions a year.
