Sacmi heads for Spain to talk about the future

Last 18th April the Sacmi Group, together with the Spanish Association of Ceramic Technicians, organised a training day aimed at operators in the ceramic industry titled "The ceramic industry: foreseeable developments. Key tools for the future”. The event was held at Castellón (Spain).

The conference, which took place in the Castellón Chamber of Commerce congress hall, proved to be of great interest, attracting over 200 participants from major Spanish ceramic companies.

During the day several speakers illustrated Sacmi’s vision of how the scenario on the ceramic industry is expected to unfold over the coming decades, analysing the challenges that await the Spanish ceramic sector and, above all, illustrating the contribution that Sacmi can make in terms of technological innovation and cutting-edge solutions that give companies the competitive advantage that has always been essential to success on global markets.

Numerous subject areas were covered: large size tiles, output flexibility (illustrated with a talk titled ‘Technology for the optimisation of production flexibility and the decoration of porcelain tiles, also on large slabs’), digital decoration (‘Digital decoration system developments’) and, lastly, end-of-line solutions, illustrated by way of two talks (‘Advantages of artificial vision systems and the new challenges facing them’ and ‘New end-of-line developments’). Not forgetting, of course, one of the most important themes in an industry as energy-hungry as ceramics, energy saving, which was the focus of a further two talks (‘Energy consumption optimisation systems’ and ‘Firing process innovations’). The Conference was able to count on expert speakers: from Andrea Bresciani, manager of the Sacmi Technological Lab, to Davide Medici, General Manager of Intesa, the Sacmi subsidiary that specialises in digital decoration, from Ferdinando Cassani, Project Manager at Sacmi Imola, to Andrea Avallone, General Manager of Sacmi Forni and, lastly, Sandro Zini, from the Sacmi subsidiary Nuova Sima.

The Conference ended with a buffet, giving participants the opportunity to engage in further discussion with the event’s speakers on subjects illustrated during the day.

Through this conference, then, Sacmi has once again demonstrated its constant attention to the Spanish ceramic industry, which, despite the difficulties posed by the present recession, continues to play a key role on the global ceramic stage.
