For Sacmi this event is essential as it is held in a region where construction and infrastructure are at the sharp end of a fast-developing economy. An area where the building sector is booming like never before, acting as the economy’s engine of double-figure growth.
That boom now extends throughout all the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) nations, boosting all construction-related fields in an area of the world characterised by fast-track economic, financial, service and manufacturing development; yet it is building and infrastructure that constitute the core of that success.
This, then, is the backdrop to BIG 5, the Middle East’s biggest construction exhibition. Divided into 8 sub-sections (Building and Construction, Water Technology and Environment, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Cleaning and Maintenance, Glass and Metal, Bathroom and Ceramic, Marble and Stone, Plant-Machinery-Vehicles), this event is, when it comes to construction and the associated technology, the reference point not just for the Gulf nations but the entire Middle East and Europe too. To be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 23rd to 27th November 2008, overall exhibition space touches 120,000 square metres.
In 2007 the fair attracted over 55,000 visitors, including architects, designers, planners, construction managers and public/private sector functionaries. This year some 3000 exhibitors from 52 different countries will be participating (with over 40% of visitors coming from abroad): a fantastic opportunity, then, for all major construction, building material, tool, design technology, sanitaryware, internal/external furnishing companies. Moreover, as of this year, there is also a plant and machinery section, in which SACMI, on the stand organised by ICE, will take part to demonstrate, ‘in person’, just how attentive Sacmi Imola Management is to the needs of this region.
A showcase, then, of prime importance for the Sacmi Group, which will be attending the fair with the Ceramics Division sales team and personnel from SACMI Middle East, which, since its establishment in 2004, has provided customer support for all Group divisions.
