Sacmi illustrates the importance of automatic vision systems in ceramics

Recent technological progress described by the Group in a convention held at Cersaie

Automatic vision systems applied to the world of ceramics: this, then, was the subject of the meeting held by Sacmi on Wednesday 28th September at the Bologna trade fair as part of the convention program at Cersaie, the international tile and bathroom furnishings fair held in the heart of Emilia-Romagna.
Using the Imola-based Group’s experience as their starting point, the two speakers, Claudio Ricci and Sanzio Caroli, illustrated the key steps in the development of this innovative technology. The task of scanning a ceramic company’s entire output and identifying shape and decoration defects in mere seconds is still largely entrusted to the human eye: however, very soon, machines may be doing this job, thus relieving workers of a tedious task that is, nevertheless, crucial to the firm’s success.
