Sacmi with Acimac, a big hit at the Castellon de la Plana symposium

Sacmi has just completed its highly successful participation in the New ceramic tile and large slab manufacturing technologyconference. Co-organised by Acimac and Spanish ceramic industry associations, the event was held yesterday, on 23rd May 2018, at Castellon de la Plana, the heart of the Spanish ceramic industry. Over 300 participants attended, including major players from what is the world's second-largest market for the Sacmi Ceramics business, a market that experienced further growth in 2017 in terms of both quantity and quality.

Ceramic slabs: the Continua evolution. This, then, was the effective formula chosen for the Sacmi presentation, which focused on large tile lines employing Continua+ slab-making technology. Extremely flexible in terms of the sheer variety of producible sizes and thicknesses, Sacmi’s renowned large slab production line was recently upgraded with further features; these range from new digital glazing and decoration systems to the semi-finished piece storage buffer. The advanced Sacmi H.E.R.E. (Human Expertise for Reactive Engineering) supervisor, instead, links up production flows, diagnostics and predictive maintenance, providing a direct interface with the customer's ERP.

The Spanish customers also showed keen interest in new decorating solutions. The latter, via complete digitalization of the glazing line, allow, alongside new digital applications, the manufacture of products with unparalleled aesthetics and outstanding texture and thickness effects. Simple and versatile, the large slab production line has thus gone fully digital: from powder preparation to decoration, from firing to the ever-more important aspects of logistics and integration with end-of-line solutions where packaged slabs are picked by laser-guided vehicles and loaded onto trucks for shipment.
