Sacmi works its sheet metal shaping magic

“Special Pressings” business unit arouses keen interest at Euroblech 2006 in Hanover

Euroblech 2006, the twentieth international exhibition of metalworking technology that was held in Hanover, Germany, from 21st to 25th October, closed on a highly promising note for Sacmi. The ever-better results obtained by the cookware division have now been flanked by further commitment from the “Special Pressings” team, allowing us to gain ground vis-à-vis the latest cold/hot metal alloy shaping applications. Sacmi’s extensive range of hydraulic presses - from 150 to 7200 tons - aroused considerable interest, as many producers on the market are focussed on limited ranges that “target” only one or just a few applications.
With satisfying gains in visibility for Sacmi Imola, which is largely unknown in this particular industry, we cannot help but feel that our participation at the fair was a great success.

Of particular interest to visitors (who numbered a record 60,000 according to the organisers) was the technology used to form the stainless steel and titanium plates used in heat exchangers: these are “corrugated” by Sacmi’s high-tonnage presses… cutting-edge machines that can be adapted to work all pressable materials and which have, in just a short time, allowed Sacmi to break into hitherto unknown fields.

Enhanced visibility within the metal shaping industry: this is a goal that Sacmi has every intention of achieving by attending the coming Alumex 2007, the fourth international aluminium fair to be held in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates from 22nd to 24th April 2007. Here, Sacmi will present a paper illustrating the state of the art of cold shaping and illustrate its possible applications. Already a key supplier to major Italian cookware producers, Sacmi is now focussing its efforts on extending the know-how acquired with “pots and pans” to other fields. There is no shortage, in fact, of opportunities when it comes to replacing traditional processes such as chilled casting, mechanical pressing and pressure die casting with “cold coining”.
