Flexible casting plant at Fiorano Modenese for the production of trims

A high pressure PCM 100 casting plant has been installed at the Tecnorefrattari production facility at Fiorano Modenese. Designed to produce (tile) trims, the plant was developed together with the German subsidiary Sama and the Sacmi Imola Resins Department.
This plant makes all those items, such as steps, inserts, edges and cornices, that cannot be made by pressing and which, until now, were manufactured using traditional casting techniques.
Pressure casting, in fact, gives greater output capacity while taking up less space. More importantly, it gives excellent repeatability and consistent quality, thus transforming a craft-like process into a true industrial one. The plant can mount dies as large as 900 x 900 mm as well as multi-cavity ones and is extremely flexible thanks to an easy mould changeover procedure and user-friendly programmable logic controllers (Plc).
