In 2004 tile output touched 157 million m2 and sanitaryware 13.5 million pieces
According to figures released by the Thai Ceramic Federation and the Asean (Association of East Asian Nations) Ceramic Council at the Cica trade fair, held in Thailand from 8th to 10th April last, Thailand produced 157 million m2 of wall and floor tiles in 2004, a massive increase of 15% with respect to 2003. Internal demand touched 114 million m2 while exports for all ceramic products was valued at 430 million Euros. Sanitaryware output, again according to the Thai Ceramic Federation, reached 160 thousand tons (or 13.5 million pieces), of which 74 thousand tons was exported. The forecast for 2005 is for further growth of 7 - 8%: demand for floor and wall tiles should reach 123 million square metres and the export quota 23 million.
