Unicera: Sacmi gives the Turkish market a boost

Rewarding meetings at Istanbul with Sacmi’s long-standing customers

Sunday 8th April saw the close of Unicera, Turkey’s prime fair for the tile, sanitaryware and bathroom furnishing industries. Hosted, like last year, at the modern Tuyap trade fair centre in Istanbul, the event attracted over 100,000 visitors just as it did in 2006: of these 37 thousand had come from over 50 different countries, giving the fair a decidedly international flavour. The organisers, in fact, clearly aim to make the event a key meeting point between producers, customers and overseas dealers.

Ceramic producers at the fair gave off cautious optimism as the domestic market is showing signs of recovery from its winter stagnation and exports continue to rise. The event was particularly satisfying for the Sacmi Group, which has always channelled significant resources into Turkey. Given the considerable levels of investment in 2005-2006, Sacmi was pleased to verify the good health of the Turkish market and strengthen ties with the country’s major producers, who have been key customers for some time now. These include many of the long-standing customers: they are a driving force for medium-size producers, who are growing fast in terms of both quality and quantity.

Floor and wall tiles constituted the bulk of the wares displayed by the 172 exhibitors in the five halls. This Istanbul-based event also stood out on account of both its smart-looking European style stands and the outstanding technical quality of the products. Numerous companies present at Unicera will also be participating – some for the very first time – at the Bologna-based Cersaie fair.
