Winning partnership between Sacmi and Gresmalt

Italy’s largest porcelain tile production plant started up

The largest Italian porcelain tile production plant has been started up by Ceramica Gresmalt at the Jano facility in Reggio Emilia; an ambitious investment choice made by the Salvarani family, which sees Sacmi Imola as its main project partner.

The key elements in this order are the four Sacmi-designed presses, two PH5000XLs and two high tonnage PH7500s, the top models in the series, ideal for making very large tiles. Sacmi has also supplied the 5-layer horizontal driers, one per press, equipped with advanced Sacmi-patented EIR and RVE energy recovery systems and able to ensure both a considerable reduction in consumption – and, therefore, costs – and emissions. The plant also features Sacmi-supplied kilns with an intake width of 2.9 metres and a length of over 120 metres: these stand out on account of their outstanding energy efficiency, thanks to cutting edge hot air recovery symptoms and special burners that ensure optimal firing curves even with larger tile sizes.

Now featuring a renewed operator interface and new control software, Sacmi kilns are also equipped with the Spinmark system, which detects any roller breakage; then there are the Xtr systems and the "Hercules" electrical control panel, without self-regulators, designed to minimise space requirements. This Sacmi-supplied order is also completed with end-of-line systems, such as that for automatic piece storage, managed by 7 laser-guided vehicles produced by Group subsidiary NuovaSima.

A major investment, then, that brings together the very highest output performance and the most modern energy recovery systems - modern-day musts in an industry as energy-hungry as ceramics.
