Sacmi, new organisational set-up for the Chocolate business unit

The Sacmi business unit dedicated to chocolate processing, wrapping and packaging is getting an organisational makeover.

For some years now, the chocolate sector - the hub of the Group's Food Division - has been the focus of an ambitious reorganisation and expansion plan. It began with the takeover of Carle&Montanari, a company with over a century of experience in modelling technology, and continued with further takeovers and mergers that led to the creation of the first Italian chocolate industry hub. In 2016, that hub generated total sales worth nearly 120 million euro.

Rocco Furone has been assigned to lead the Business Unit's primary packaging sales team (the unit heads all the Group's primary packaging operations): with extensive international experience in packaging solution sales management, Furone also has excellent know-how in coordinating the technical development of products so they meet the different needs of individual markets and industries.

Heading the Business Unit's General Management team, instead, is Giovanni Campolungo, Sacmi's current CFO: previously Managing Director of an international packaging firm, he was also, until 2013, head of Sacmi Group management. Mr. Campolungo takes over from Moreno Roncato, while Filippo Ferrari takes over as managing director of CM-OPM. Mr. Ferrari has already played a pivotal role in Sacmi (he had a long tenure as head of the Sacmi Istanbul branch) in developing new markets, fields and industries. Completing the management team are others with proven experience and skills, including Aldo Abluton, Daniele Manzon, Fabio Frabetti and Gilberto Monaldini.

The reorganisation of this business unit is part of a wider chocolate processing and packaging plan that sees the Sacmi Group ever-more focused on the development of bakery solutions (biscuits etc.) and on the parallel growth of all primary and secondary packaging operations.
