Benco Pack: new aseptic line delivered to South America

This line, the first of its kind in South America, has been purchased by a major cheese and dairy plant in Lima

A totally aseptic line designed and built by Benco Pack has been installed in South America, in the Peruvian capital of Lima. The production line – the first of its kind in Latin America – recently became operative in what is Peru’s biggest cheese and dairy concern, Gloria S.A. This Group employs over five thousand people in a number of plants dotted around Peru, Bolivia and Puerto Rico and holds, in Peru, 55% of the UHT products market, 75% of the evaporated milk market and 59% of the fresh yoghurt market.
The installed machine is an Asepack/12-c/D, an aseptic 12-cavity thermo-former with a guaranteed work rate of 27 cycles/minute: that means an output of 20,000 containers an hour. Featuring an integrated paper label applicator and a “swarf-free” container cutting device, this line generates only a third as much plastic scrap as normal by using a system of cutter blades that are more efficient than the standard “punch and die” solution. Thanks to a sophisticated batching system that allows aromas and fruit puree to be mixed during filling, the system can also process fresh foods such as yoghurt with fruit.
