Inter-leader synergy puts fizz into mineral water

Spanish firm Valtorre chooses Sacmi Filling to bottle its “Agua de Beteta”

Growing demand throughout Western Europe, more demanding customers and business volumes in the order of 35 billion Euros: these, then, are the numbers behind the bottled mineral water market. A consequence of this growth is that producers are more and more committed to improving bottled water quality from a health-hygiene viewpoint by using high-tech machinery. And that’s without taking into account changes in consumption patterns, which include the fast-developing “added” water segment (waters aromatised or enriched with health-enhancing ingredients such as vitamins, oxygen and herb extracts).

These, then, are the factors which lie behind the investment choices made by Valtorre, a Spanish firm with thirty years’ experience in the production and bottling of mineral water. By next March the brand-owner company will open a new plant at Beteta – in the Cuenca area, 150 km from Madrid – where a water renowned for its mineral-medicinal properties gushes forth. This new plant will have a production capacity of 56 thousand bottles per hour and an all-new “Agua de Beteta” label.

Innovative and cutting-edge from a technological viewpoint, the new bottling plant has been designed and built by Sacmi Filling in its entirety. The company, part of the Sacmi Group, provides – in addition to decades of experience in the industry – comprehensive, personalised customer assistance right from the design stage. Machines made by Sacmi Filling range from the traditional filling lines for glass and PET bottles to the latest generation of machines such as Combo, Asettico e Ultra Clean, equipped with electronic volumetric fillers. Moreover, the activities of Sacmi Filling, together with those of the other Sacmi Group companies operating in the beverage industry, cover the entire bottling process, from filling and capping to labelling and palletization.

In the case of Valtorre, the difference lies in the fact that there will be three complete lines for the bottling of sparkling water, still water and aromatised water, suitable for both small bottles (from 0.33 to 2 litres) and large (up to 10 litres). The system consists of a single station that combines blower, filler and capper and is completed with labelling machine, packager and palletizer. These three fully automatic lines allow complete product processing right up to packaging of the retail sales pallets. And this effective partnership between Sacmi Filling and Valtorre looks like it’s just beginning: for both companies, in fact, this synergy will provide important feedback for both reference markets, thus aiding further reinforcement of their respective leadership positions.
