Pharmaceutical packaging, Sacmi-made innovation

Sacmi to play a central role at the 17th edition of the China International Pharmaceutical Industry Exhibition, where the Group will showcase all the advantages of the innovative range of CBF forming machines

The world’s leading pharmaceutical industry players will be getting together in China, from 24th to 27th September, for the 17th edition of the China International Pharmaceutical Industry Exhibition. At least 20,000 visitors are expected and there will be over 500 exhibitors, all eager to show off the latest technological innovations they’ve developed for the pharmaceutical industry.

Sacmi – which will be at the fair with its own stand (booth 2135, L1 Floor) – can pride itself on having taken up the challenge of innovation in such a specialised, highly competitive field as pharmaceutical packaging. Here, Sacmi is able to provide customers with a “single technological platform” that offers all the advantages of compression technology.
Sacmi’s contribution to the sector – which has already won market acclaim and gone into production in key companies, including the world’s leading pharmaceutical packaging company – is called CBF (compression blow forming), an innovative industrial process that allows containers to be produced directly from pellets, in HDPE, PS, PET or PP without distinction.

More specifically, Sacmi-developed CBF stands out on account of the strongly innovative transformation process, based on a continuous extrusion of plastic material that is cut into pre-set doses and then inserted in an open mould and compression-shaped to make the preform. Inside the next mould, the preform is heated to a temperature that allows the blowing and stretch-blowing that makes it into a container, which is then fed out onto the line.

Sacmi also stands out on account of its capacity to work, right from the design stage, alongside the customer to provide highly personalised turnkey plant engineering solutions. Customers can also count on far-reaching sales and after-sales assistance networks covering four continents; not surprisingly, then, just one year after the new product’s launch, some ten CBF plants have already been installed all over the globe, from China to Sweden, from Australia to Vietnam.
