Productivity, flexibility, energy savings, the highest intrinsic product quality. And, moreover, plenty of margin for further development with respect to traditional technologies, together with the possibility of providing a sole technological platform at the service of several business sectors. This is CBF – Compression Blow Forming – developed by SACMI, an innovative industrial process that allows containers to be produced directly from the pellets, in HDPE, PS, PET or PP.
The key strength of CBF lies in its ability to take compression technology, already widely tested and used in closures production, into a new sector – that of plastic container production using all the market-available resins. Some figures? No less than 1,200 manufacturing systems from the CCM (Continuous Compression Moulding) range installed worldwide. A technology– based also on a solid experience in blowing equipment – that has allowed SACMI to become a sole supplier of turnkey plants in a variety of industries, from beverage to dairy to pharmaceutical.
And it’s certainly no coincidence that the global pharmaceutical packaging leader – the multinational AMCOR – has chosen Sacmi-developed CBF as its “official” production technology for packers. Already, in 2012, the delivery program will see SACMI committed to the production of a significant number of systems, a number which will steadily grow as part of a three-year supply agreement. In 2012 other machines will be shipped to China, Sweden and emerging economies such as Vietnam, thus raising the number of CBF machines installed - in what is the first real year this new product is being sold and marketed.
The initial achievement lies in having successfully extended the field of application of this technology by SACMI having “intrinsic” advantages in terms of flexibility, quality, productivity and area of improvements. SACMI proposes CBF as a winning alternative to existing mature technologies such as injection blow moulding. Success is also resulting from a solid and industrial policy in which “turnkey” sales, after-sales assistance, capacity to design products and applications in close collaboration with the customer form the core values of the SACMI Group.
