Sacmi Packaging & Beverage: great innovations at Emballage in Paris

The SACMI GROUP s Beverage & Packaging division is continuing to strengthen its position on the international market for beverage & packaging plants and machines. It has recently set up a new company, SACMI LABELLING, which specialises in labelling machines, and has also taken over CORTELLAZZI FINTEC - a leading company on the bottling plant market. Today, the SACMI GROUP is able to supply state-of-the-art technological systems for all the major packaging, filling, labelling, in-line quality control etc. processes. The SACMI GROUP, that exhibited at the "Emballage" trade fair to be held in Paris (20-24/11/2000), now includes: the Beverage & Packaging division at SACMI Imola, specialising in machines for caps & closures; INPAK IMOLA, experts in manufacturing boxing machines, forming machines for boxes and trays, as well as palletizers; BENCO PACK, which manufactures and sells form-fill-seal machines for containers of foodstuffs (also available in aseptic version). Two recent additions to the Group are the controlled companies SACMI LABELLING and CORTELLAZZI FINTEC. At the EMBALLAGE trade fair SACMI LABELLING introduced two new labelling machines: - one is an automatic rotating machine which applies 2 or more self-adhesive labels (to the front, back and neck of bottles). The machine can reach a production rate of 400 BPM (24,000 BPH). At medium rates it is mainly used in the wine, spirits, chemical, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and food industries. The other machine is also automatic and rotating but applies a single label made of plastic (OPP, PET etc.) which is wrapped around the body of the container. Pre-printed film is fed from rolls into the machine. The labels are then cut and glued directly onto the container. Production rates of up to 500 BPM (30,000 BPH) can be obtained. At medium rates, the machine is mainly used for bottling soft drinks and water and in the chemical and food industries. CORTELLAZZI FINTEC introduced a new machine for aseptic filling: the ALFA-AF 60.60.50.(10) integrated stand alone unit. This machine includes a bottle sterilisation station, which sprays a sterilising solution; a rinsing station which sprays sterilised water and an area where the bottles are gravity-filled. The machine is set up in such a way that a cap application tower can be installed at a later date. The tower will have ten heads for applying plastic pre-threaded caps for PET bottles. The machine is capable of reaching production rates of 20,000 BPH (1000 cm³ bottles) and is to be installed at the plant of an important fruit juice bottling company. BENCO PACK presented the very latest in vertical packaging machines for wrapping food products in closed packets. The machine is entirely made of AISI 304 stainless steel and is specially designed to be easy to clean. The packaging material used can be any type of bonded film which is unwound from a single roll. The machine can run in intermittent or continuous mode in order to ensure perfect seals at hi
