Sacmi Verona obtains UL certification and looks to North America

Certified electrical panels for industrial machines: new synergies for the entire Sacmi Group

The most widely acknowledged North American quality and safety mark is issued by Underwriters Laboratories Inc, an independent organisation established in 1894 and one of the most renowned product conformity providers on the market. Now, following in the footsteps of Sacmi Imola and Carle & Montanari Milano – certified in 2004 and 2008 respectively – Sacmi Verona has also succeeded in obtaining this prestigious recognition, allowing them to produce electrical panels for automation systems that use UL-certified industrial machines.

This result was achieved following the positive outcome of a final inspection by technicians from UL Italy (the Italian subsidiary of Underwriters Laboratories Inc) at the Sacmi Verona facilities. The  UL 508 A  certification obtained by Sacmi Verona, naturally in keeping with Sacmi’s long-standing attention to the quality of all its products, will also allow other organisations within the Group to supply certified electrical panels to North America without having to resort to external partners. This will mean both economic savings and enhanced Group-level managerial and organisational efficiency.

It’s also important to point out how a  UL -certified panel, in addition to meeting the design and production requisites contained in regulations, also provides the certainty that all the components used in its construction are employed for the specific purpose for which they, in turn, were designed and tested. For this reason UL acts as a guarantee, in the USA, for both final users and the insurance company system. This represents a great opportunity for Sacmi Verona which set up, just two years ago, its own organisation for the construction of automation electrical panels – for use on both their own machines (labellers, tunnel driers, heat-shrink devices) and those made by other Group businesses such as Sacmi Filling and Sacmi Pakim – and, in 2013, built over 200 electrical panels.
