Ultra-clean filling in the homeland of Bordeaux

At Vinitech 2014 Sacmi will be presenting the Bag in Box filling and packaging tri-block, characterised by high levels of automation, flexibility and guaranteed product integrity

Outstanding automation, ease of use and perfect product integrity thanks to an ultra-clean filling system. These, then, are the main characteristics of the automatic Bag in Box filler – MONOBIB model – now offered by Sacmi Pakim (Sacmi Packaging’s brand) as an innovative all-in-one “tri-block” that combines carton forming, automatic filling and carton glue closure. The setting? The Vinitech fair in Bordeaux (2-4 December 2014), in the heart of one of the world’s most renowned wine-making areas, an event expected to attract over 40,000 visitors from over 70 countries.

Ideal for wine, food oils, water and chemical products, the automatic MONOBIB filler – which visitors to the fair can get a close look at simply by dropping in at the Sacmi stand (1A2206) – combines several advantages, including outstanding product preservation: special design features ensure, via the injection of nitrogen, oxygen capture levels during filling of less than 0.4 ppm, while a special ultra-clean filling valve eliminates the possibility of product contamination. The same filling valve – and the as-standard software for automatic machine cleaning via steam sanitisation or chemical products – ensures process management that is, indeed, fully ultra-clean.

Made entirely of stainless steel (AISI 304 and AISI 316L for parts in contact with the product), the machine can handle 1.5, 2, 3, 5, 10, 15 and 20-litre containers, with output rates ranging from 320 Bag in Box containers per hour (20-litre format) to 850 packs per hour in the 3-litre size. Efficient and flexible, this Sacmi machine features a fast size changeover system that can be used with all the main commercially available valves and caps. As-standard equipment also includes the CIP wash circuit, supplied with the machine, suitable for steam and non-steam sanitisation.

What makes this Sacmi proposal particularly interesting for producers are the solutions developed upstream and downstream from the filler, from the carton forming and glue-type box closure machine to the solution for inserting the bag in the box and subsequent box closure. The entire process is highly automated, from bag infeed to cutting, from automatic capping/uncapping to the post-filling nitrogen introduction system. To complete the process, the machine has a “hot melt” carton closer, thus providing nothing les than a comprehensive turnkey solution with which Sacmi aims to gain further market shares on the beverage bottling and packaging market.
