Ege Vitrifiye takes the fight to the EU market with SACMI AVM

With a capacity of 1.4 million pieces a year, Ege Vitrifiye's role as a major Turkish ceramic manufacturer clearly includes sanitaryware, not just tiles. A long-standing SACMI customer that exports 70% of its output (mostly to Europe), the company recently implemented an ambitious investment plan to boost the manufacture of ceramic WCs, with most of them earmarked for the medium-to-high end of the EU market.

Ege Vitrifiye already has an extensive pool of SACMI single-mould and multi-mould machines and GA2000 high pressure casting and glazing robots. These are now joined, at its production facility in Izmir, by 8 new AVM machines; the latter, SACMI's world-leading WC manufacturing solution, lets users manage moulds with up to 7 parts, guaranteeing quality, reliability and process repeatability. More specifically, this latest order for Ege Vitrifiye includes 4 casting cells, each consisting of 2 robot-assisted AVM machines.

Thanks to the robots, equipped with de-moulding and handling tools, all de-moulding, piece maturation storage and finishing station handling tasks are fully automated. Each cell also features a dedicated, independent slip dosing and pre-heat system; moreover, SACMI has provided a full array of downstream solutions (water intake unit, storage units complete with de-moulding supports, outfeed automation, zero-weight manipulators).

These 8 new AVMs (which have already been successfully tested) will allow Ege Vitrifiye to boost WC output by some 400 pieces a day (in a range of widely differing types: back to wall, wall-mounted, monobloc, two-piece, rimless, etc.). This latest investment in SACMI technology – by a company that already exports almost two thirds of its output to 62 countries – aims to augment productivity and quality even further and so strengthen and broaden its international market positioning.
