Sacmi to present its odour-control ‘electronic nose’ at Ecomondo

Called EOS Ambiente, it will be showcased by Sacmi at Ecomondo, the 15th International Fair of Material and Energy Recovery and Sustainable Development. We’re really looking forward to illustrating the device’s potential, so we’ll be at the Rimini trade fair from 9th to 12th November 2011 at Stand n. 008 in Hall C1.

EOS Ambiente, an offshoot of Sacmi’s longstanding experience with olfactory control devices for the food industry, features a pneumatic external air sampling system and cutting-edge gas and semi-conductor metal oxide sensors housed inside a special Sacmi-patented measuring unit. Via these sensors the ‘electronic nose’ detects a clearly defined olfactory ‘footprint’, providing precise recognition of substances and exact measurements of their concentration, even when sources are a long way off and in-air percentages are minimal.

The ‘electronic nose’ can thus be used to monitor waste/landfill facilities, composting systems, incinerators, biogas production plants, refineries, chemical plants, animal breeding facilities and civil or industrial waste water purification plants: places generating emissions that are not necessarily harmful, but often unpleasant. In all such cases EOS Ambiente can quantify the odour that will be perceived by people living nearby, objectively check whether it is within acceptable levels, analyse any seasonal fluctuations and also act as an alarm system in the event of unexpected or sudden emissions.
