Savoia ceramics – new automation line, thanks to the Sacmi Group

A completely new automated handling and storage system - supplied by the SACMI Group together with its NUOVA SIMA sister company - was recently started up at the Savoia Italia S.p.A. ceramic plant in Fiorano Modenese.

“This automated line, which features automatic laser-guided vehicles”, explains Sacmi’s plant engineer, Giuseppe Miselli, “has been designed to make Savoia’s ceramic manufacturing operations as flexible as possible”. Vehicles, in fact, are monitored constantly by an on-car rotating laser scanner which works by way of a reflected beam.

“This system”, points out the plant owner, “ has, via an investment worth several million euros, made us even more competitive, when it comes to meeting our customers’ demands.

The utilisation of no less than 100 roller racks allows optimal manufacturing of our broad product range”.

The partnership between SACMI Group and SAVOIA thus goes from strength to strength, continuing to make major investments; moreover, NUOVA SIMA and SAVOIA offer two examples of excellence, based in the same Fiorano area, working together for a better future.
